A motoring journalist completed a marathon economy drive from Suzuki Swift DDiS in recent past. The drive route opted by the journalist was from New Zealand’s North Island from Auckland to Wellington and the he headed back to Auckland without taking any extra fuel on road or giving halt to its journey. The journalist Donn Anderson drove a complete distance of 1,240 km in 42 liters of fuel only with an average figure of fuel consumption of 29.76 kmpl in the complete journey.
The route which Anderson took was full of potholes, rough roads, open highways, congested cities and town roads which we also encounter in the daily life. Anderson was definitely driving a sporty car but he was in no mood to act like some rally car race rider. His speed was also not more than 50 to 60 mph which was around 100 kmph maximum with natural obstacles like torrential rain and heavy winds on the way.
These obstacles were natural and because of these obstacles only Anderson could not drove further but he wished too. There can be lot of speculations on the fuel tank of Suzuki Swift in India if it can run this way on road in UK with a record of very high fuel efficiency. The swift hatchback is much more popular and as being the biggest global market for the car Indian conditions may vary and can create many more problems for the car in near future.
