After some unexpected delay, Tata Tiago has now finally entered the production phase at company’s Sanand manufacturing unit in Gujarat. The new hatch from Tata was officially revealed in November last year, followed by Auto Expo 2016 showcase recently. It is the second model after Nano which is being produced at the manufacturing plant. According to a report, the company has already produced 1,800 units of Tiago so far and is awaiting the regulatory registration process to be completed.

Tata Tiago possesses the brand new design philosophy and the company is banking on the same. Moreover, the company has tied up with the legendary footballer Lionel Messi as the brand ambassador, so it will give the required boost to the products currently in the pipeline and help company emerge as a strong player in the market. The Messi bonding also hints that the company would be launching the new Tiago as a global product, exporting it to other markets of the world.

Talking about the powertrains, Tiago will be powered by two new engines viz. 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine and 1.0 litre Revotorq diesel engine that are capable of producing respective power outputs of 85PS and 70PS. These powerplants will be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission, while an AMT variant is expected to join the line-up at a later stage.

The new Tiago will compete against Hyundai i10 and Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the segment. After Tiago, company will be launching Kite 5 sedan, which was showcased alongside Tiago at Auto Expo.
