Tata to roll out Nano CNG by year end

Tata Nano is expected to come out with a new CNG trim. The Indian auto major Tata Motors is contemplating to increase the capacity of Tata Nano in lieu of the demand Nano is receiving from the tier II and tier III cities. Tata Motors official said that the company Nano CNG production wheels are set in motion and the company is going to launch Tata Nano CNG by the end of this fiscal. As per the news earlier Tata was going to drive in Tata Nano diesel before 2013, the plan is now delayed. Nano diesel will go into production by year end.

The cost of the diesel powered Nano will be 30% more than the petrol trim. Nano diesel will be powered by the twin cylinder 700-800cc DICOR engine that was first seen under the hood of Tata Ace. Tata Motors is going to expand its network base from 130 to 300 by year end. Tata Nano sales figure crossed 10,000 units last month, a first since its launch. However, the figure is not close to what Tata was expecting, also this is much less than the segment leader Maruti Alto.
