Zica looks a step away from typical Indica silhouette and is quite a looker; market launch will happen in January 2016
Update: Tata has showcased the entry level hatchback Zica aka Tiago at the 2016 Auto Expo that will take on other popular hatchbacks in the country including Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10. Audiences may not have to wait too long to get their hands on the newly launched hatchback with its release scheduled in two weeks. With company’s very own ConnectNext infotainment system, segment first 8 speaker system and alternatives for diesel and naturally aspirated motor, Tata Zica looks pretty strong to make a big impact. Check out the Auto Expo reveal, image gallery and more.
Tata has released the official images of the upcoming Zica hatchback. It will be placed in-between Nano and Bolt. Just like the design, Tata is also revamping its marketing strategy as the automaker has roped-in the ace footballer Lionel Messi as their global brand ambassador. Tiago launch will happen, most probably, in January 2016 and will compete with rest of the entry-level B-segment hatches - Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat along with others.
The design is a breakaway from its predecessor or even its siblings. Technically, Zica is the spiritual successor of the aging Indica and has certainly evolved quite beautifully. The character lines are sharp and prominent. Tata has subtly spruced up the grille, it sits vertically-up making the nose dip and features a honeycomb pattern. Tata’s humanity line runs below the grille and merges with the swept-back headlamps. It features a large air dam with the same honeycomb pattern flanked by fog lamps. The rear offers wrap-around taillamps and surprisingly, the vehicle will also feature rear parking sensors - segment first!
Zica’s images were leaked ahead of Tata’s official reveal today; the interiors are also looking contemporary similar to its exteriors. Zica features a dual-tone - black & grey layout with chrome and piano black highlights. The spied vehicle appears to be the range-topping variant of the Zica. Features on board include - double-din audio system with Bluetooth connectivity (obvious), the unit is expected to be a Harman one and boasts 4 speakers and 4 tweeters - another segment first!
The air conditioning is manual. Zica features a twin-pod instrumentation cluster and is finished in silver shade with a black cowl. Chrome highlights around the AC louvers and door handles add to the bling! The steering wheel is a straight lift from Zest and Bolt. In terms of engine options, Zica will be reportedly powered by a new 1.2-liter petrol and a 1.05-liter diesel engines, both three cylinders. Stay tuned for our road test review this week.
