Toyota, in Europe, has revealed a facelift for its sedan, the Corolla. Known as the most popular vehicle in the manufacturer’s line-up, the facelift has several changes to showcase, namely the new chrome accents at the door handles and a new choice of wheels from the 16/17-inch alloy wheels, among others.
The most evident changes can be noticed on the front profile of the car. The company has modified the design of the headlamp cluster and has also installed new LED light guides. The sleeker headlamps provide the car with a sharper and a more stylish look. The front grille has also been modified to suit the front lights of reduced width.
At the rear, the car looks refreshed as it gets a new LED tail lamp cluster accompanied with new chrome accents. The sedan was earlier available in six colours and has now three more on offer, namely the Platinum Bronze, the Tokyo Red and the Earth Bronze.
The automaker is yet to comment on plans to reveal the new model in India. The current version of the Corolla, available within the country is powered by a 1,798cc petrol and a 1,364cc diesel mill. The former produces 138bhp of power with 173Nm of torque and the latter generates 87 horses and 204Nm. The Corolla’s closest rival is (in the price bracket) the Volkswagen Jetta with a more powerful engine and its power figures stand at 138bhp and 320Nm.
The sedan accounts for approximately 20 per cent of the Toyota’s worldwide sale and thus, keeping it up-to-date, remains on the priority list of the Japanese carmaker. With such upgrades, it seems the automaker has sailed well with time.
