Toyota India is making news these days for the other reason, recently the auto major forayed into the small car segment with its premium hatchback Toyota Etios Liva. The car is based on the same platform as its sibling Etios sedan. Toyota Etios was launched last year and has become the most saleable sedan leaving behind Maruti Dzire. The conclusion of Toyota Etios sedan being the best selling car is based on the June 2011 sales.

If figures are taken into account, Toyota Etios managed to touch the mark of selling 5002 cars in June, whereas Maruti was able to sell around 2,846 units of Maruti Dzire. Therefore, it clearly shows that Toyota Etios is the best selling sedan in the Indian auto market at present. The main thing that has to be noticed here is that Toyota Etios managed to touch the mark of selling 5000 units without having a diesel variant of the sedan, which is certainly remarkable.

Toyota Etios by becoming the best selling sedan in India further made people believe in Toyota more. The other quick selling sedan in the Indian Auto Market was Tata Manza. However, the exact sales figures have not been revealed till now but Tata Motors India has revealed the sales figures of Tata Indica range, which are 4,882 cars that comprise of Tata Indigo LX, Tata Indigo CS, Tata Manza and Tata Indigo XL.

If Tata Manza would have managed to touch the sales figures of 3,000 units in the month of June, then it could have beaten Maruti Swift Dzire. But, sadly the lukewarm sales of Maruti Dzire is also because of the workers’ strike at the Maruti's Manesar plant in early June. However, it is expected that Maruti India will cover up for its sad sales in July. On the other hand, the Ford Fiesta Classic did a decent job in its sales in the month of June. Ford India managed to sell around 1,077 units of Ford Fiesta Classic in June.

In the meantime, Hyundai Accent is continuing to surprise as Hyundai India managed to sell 977 units of Hyundai Accent in the month of June. Even Mahindra Verito, also managed to do a decent sale of around 1,510 units. So, it is clear that Mahindra’s rebranding magic worked for Mahindra Verito. As far as Toyota India is concerned, it offers various cars in the country, which include newly launched Toyota Etios Liva, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Altis, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Camry, Toyota Innova, Toyota Alphard and Toyota Prado.
