Toyota regained top position in car BrandZ

According to the latest survey by BrandZ (brand equity database comparing over 23,000 brands), Toyota has re-acquired the position of highest ranked automotive brand in top 10 cars brand category. Toyota gained this position after surpassing BMW which was at top position last year. As per the reports, Toyota was the most trusted automotive brand in the world during 2006-09. But after the infamous recalls of large number of cars due to sudden acceleration issues, Toyota Motors fell to #2 behind BMW.

If reports about car brand values are taken into account, brand value of Toyota elevated to $24.2 billion leaving behind BMW which is having the brand value of $22.1 billion. And Mercedes-Benz is at the third position with brand value at $15.3 billion and Honda is just next to Mercedes with $14.2 billion brand value.

Millward Brown global brand director, Peter Walshe said that even after Toyota's infamous recall, consumer’s confidence still remained intact in the Toyota brand. He also said that Toyota Motors was most trusted brand before infamous recall and the company re-acquired its position after acting responsible. It showed the high spirits of Toyota brand.
However, it is still not certain if the survey was taken after the March 11th earthquake and tsunami after which the company’s production got drastically reduced, which in turn resulted in reduced sales figures.

Furthermore, Toyota’s Lexus brand entered the list of top 10 car brands for the first time with brand value of $3.7 billion. If reports are believed, Toyota is holding the first position in cars top 10, but it is positioned at 27th place in the list of top 100 overall Global BrandZ. And there are only six cars from top 10 car brands listed in the overall Top 100 list with Nissan at lowest position (#88).
