Toyota is expected to showcase its C-segment sedan, the Toyota Vios at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The car will be Toyota’s official entry in the segment and will take on rivals like Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and others. Vios is expected to hit the Indian streets soon after the IAE 2016 showcase, so we have compiled certain highlights that one needs to know, in order to gain an informed insight on this Japanese sedan.
Size Matters:
Toyota Vios is 4,410mm long, 1,700 mm wide, and 1,475 tall, which means the car is comparatively smaller than its rivals like Hyundai Verna, which is just as wide and tall as the Vios but relatively longer. Even Ciaz trumps Vios in regards to its overall dimensions and this might mean that Vios will compromise on the cabin space for the occupants. However, these are still speculations at this point as the cabin space depends on the effective design of interior consoles and the relatively protruding exterior panels on the rivaling cars, might have contributed to their bigger dimensions.
Power and Practicality:
The India-spec Vios will probably be powered by the 1.5 petrol unit that we see in Etios and the 1.4 litre D-4D diesel mill, which it will share with the Corolla Altis. The Thailand variant of Vios comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission and there is a possibility that the same AT might also make its way into the Indian model, which will make city driving a piece of cake.
Good Things Come at a Price:
Some creature comforts that Toyota Vios will be offered with in India will include, ABS, dual airbags, a smart entry system, projector headlamps, automatic climate control, a push start system, a theft deterrent system, an immobilizer and an Eco meter. The car will be priced competitively and is expected to fall in the range of Rs. 7.5 - Rs. 10 lacs.
