Volkswagen India launches the facelift version of Vento at Rs 7.70 lac (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). The sedan gets multiple cosmetic updates in the form of new chrome grille, 3D look alike rear taillamp cluster and new ‘Walnut desert beige’ interior theme. The advance booking for the Vento has already started with an upfront payment of Rs 25,000. The car lock horns with the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and more.
At the front, the 2015 Vento gets a new and updated bumper, new three-slat chrome grille and dual-barrel headlamps. With the addition of three-slat chrome grille, the sedan gets a premium look and thus moves closer to its bigger siblings 2015 Jetta and the new Passat as far as the looks are concerned.
The side profile mostly remains the same but the car now rides on the updated set of alloys which is also seen in the new Polo. The door handles receive chrome attachments along with the introduction of side blinkers on ORVMs. At the rear, Vento gets new 3D effect taillamps and chrome strip near the tail lamp cluster.
Fuel Economy
At the rear, there are subtle changes in the form of new LED look-alike treatment which the company proudly calls as '3D effect taillamps'. Chrome strips are also provided on the taillamp cluster and at the bottom of refreshed bumper.
The interior looks more or less same but gets a lighter shade of beige which in company's word is ‘Walnut desert beige’. The saloon still lacks the touchscreen infotainment system and carries the same Bluetooth enabled unit from the last update. 2015 Vento also offers Cruise Control, Cooled Glovebox, Electrically foldable outside mirrors and Dead Pedal for the automatic version.
The power and specifications remain the same but the fuel efficiency is increased by 7 percent in petrol models and 2 percent in diesel manual. The diesel variant gets 1.5-liter TDI engine which gives an output of 103.5bhp @ 4400 rpm and 250Nm of peak torque @ 1500-2500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-Speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic. While, the petrol model will continue to house the 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre MPI engine. The 1.6-litre MPI gives an output of 103.5bhp with 153Nm of torque while the 1.2-litre turbo gives the same output of 103.5bhp but with an increased torque of 175Nm. The turbo petrol engine is coupled with the 7-speed DSG automatic while the 1.6 MPI petrol gets 5-speed MT.
