Following its debut as a potential limited edition earlier this year, the Volkswagen Taigun Trail Edition has now gone on sale. The Taigun Trail is part of the compact SUV’s ‘GT Edge Collection.’ As such it is based on the feature-packed GT variants with the more powerful engine. It can only be booked online with deliveries slated to begin in the festive period.

What’s Different On The Trail Edition?
The Taigun Trail Edition gets an all-black grille with chrome strips at the top and bottom. That said, the chunky chrome bar and silver skid plate are still present on the front bumper. Other exterior changes include body decals on the rear doors and fenders (Trail moniker), black 16-inch alloy wheels, and the ‘GT’ badges on the front fenders. The limited edition SUV also comes with a roof rack and the ‘Trail’ badge on the tailgate.
Volkswagen is offering the Taigun Trail Edition in three exterior shades: Candy White, Reflex Silver and Carbon Steel Grey.

Changes Inside The Cabin
Its cabin features a variant-specific black upholstery having the ‘Trail’ lettering and red piping. Volkswagen has also provided it with stainless steel pedals to go with the sporty nature of the limited edition.
In terms of features, the Taigun Trail Edition is equipped with a dual-camera dashcam with built-in LCD display (new for the SUV), 10-inch touchscreen unit, auto climate control, and an 8-inch digital driver’s display. Its safety net consists of dual airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold assist, and a reversing camera.
What’s Powering It?
The GT variants of the Volkswagen Taigun are provided with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (150PS/250Nm). It comes with only the 6-speed manual option.
Competition Check
The only direct rival to the Volkswagen Taigun Trail edition is the Hyundai Creta Adventure. Overall, the SUV also goes up against the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
