Volkswagen's passion to grow is building up by each passing day as it continues to strategise on one of the the fastest emerging markets, India. Volkswagen has always eyed the ultra-low-cost hatchback segment for India and now the auto major hopes to tap the growth in the MPV and the compact SUV segment which seems to be observed with increased interest of late. While Volkswagen Up! three door hatchback is already launched in the global markets and the Volkswagne UP 5-door hatch a part of the Volkswagen's ultra low-cost A00 segment, is on the brink of making a smashing entry in the Euopean markets, the auto major is still toying with the idea of the Volkswagen Up!

launch in India. All the same, Volkswagen is busy developing another low-cost car on the sidelines dubbed as Volkswagen A00 to keep an alternative option open just in case the small car Volkswagen UP! doesn't seem to be a feasible option in India.Volkswagen India has hoped to bring the one and only low-cost car Volkswagen Up! priced in the range of Rs 3-4 lakh, but the high development costs is making it extremely difficult for the auto major to get the Volkswagen Up! price down to the Rs 3-4 lakh as promised. The veteran car manufacturer however knows that the increased localisation is the only key to get the price under control for which it is aggressively looking to set up a new engine deelopment plant, the idea which is still a little far-fetched at the moment and got the auto major sleeping over it.

While this is only a part of the growth plans of Volkswagen who dreams to the number one car manufacturer one day has a bag full of ideas, where the new cars based on the MQB platform is also one of the options. All new Volkswagen Polo and a Volkswagen Vento facelift for India are more or less on the top of the list to be built on the MQB platform, but the same platform could form the basis for the upcoming new models from Volkswagen for the compact SUV and the MPV going forward, unwilling to be left behind when the rival car manufacturers have beat the German auto giant already. Maruti Suzuki India brought the the compact Maruti XA Alpha concept and Maruti Ertiga MPV for a display at the Indian Auto Expo 2012, Hyundai Hexa Space MPV gobbled enough limelight at the Auto Expo, fully-grown Ford EcoSport SUV could go compact anytime soon, not to mention the most competitive Chevrolet Enjoy MPV were all present at the 11th Auto Expo this season gicing all the more reason for Volkswagen to think along these lines.

And to mint money, Volkswagen has more reasons than it can ever think while its subsidiaries are enough to get the ball rolling. All its subsidiaries right from its super luxury car manufacturer Porsche to Seat who is synonymous for developing budget cars are bringing a revolution across the globe while the latter is looking for the right opportunity to make a debut in the country banking on the Seat Mii, the Seat's version of Volkswagen Up!. This brings us back to Volkswagen Up! as the Indian car lovers needn't worry if the Volkswagen Up! in India isn't happening as going forward Skoda Citigo or Seat Mii are just as good to pacify the consumers if not the dream car.
