Volkswagen to Increase Market Share to 7% by 2018; No new Product in 2013

We all know that Indian auto market is going at a very fast pace, and according to experts it will become third largest market in the world by 2020. All globally renowned passenger car-makers want to invest in India, and aims to capture some market share. Volkswagen India is also plans to capture around 7 per cent market by 2018, and aims to become the largest carmaker in the globe.
"Our current market share in the Indian car market is around 3 per cent. The target is to achieve around 6-7 per cent market share by 2018," Volkswagen India Passenger Cars Managing Director Arvind Saxena said. The company has already announced its ardor to become the world's number one car-maker by 2018. However, the auto-major didn't tell much about the future line-ups, but the company will focus on all segments that are growing in the Indian market to drive sales. Interesting!!! this giving some idea about the fast growing utility vehicle. However, he denied to comment on whether the company aims to launch any compact SUV and a compact sedan in India.
Saxena further said that,"the market continuous to be down and we don't expect any growth. We are looking to maintain our market share of last year." This year, company will not launch any new product, and will introduce only limited edition and new variants of the existing models to keep the sales up. Recently, the Volkswagen Up! was spotted during its test rounds, indicating a possible launch. However, the company is in decline mode, and said that they will not launch the small car Up! in Indian market.
The German auto-giant has two manufacturing plants in Maharashtra, but the comaany had VAT refund issues with state government, which effects the company's plans of setting up new facility for new models like the Up!
