Government-owned entities can avail special prices for the Ameo and the Vento
German automaker Volkswagen is pulling all possible strings to get its sales numbers rolling in the right direction. While the company has been busy doing research on what the Indian customer is after and fine-tuning its products, it has also ventured into different sales channels to expand its presence across the country.
The carmaker has now announced that its made-for-India, made-in-India Ameo and Vento sedans are for sale under the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposal (DSG&D) special price. The Government-owned entities can purchase either of the sedans, both diesel and petrol variants, at prices approved by the DSG&D throughout the year.
Speaking on this development, Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India. said, “We are pleased to have both our made-in-India products approved and available under DGS&D rate contract. This further strengthens our bond and reiterates our commitment towards providing a comfortable and safe driving experience to the Indian consumers.”
The sub-4 metre Ameo is available with either a 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel. While the petrol engine is tuned to produce 75PS/110Nm and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the diesel engine generates 110PS/250Nm and is available with either a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG auto box.
The Vento, on the other hand, is on offer with two petrol engines (1.2 litre and 1.6 litre) and the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the Ameo. The 1.2-litre petrol mill comes mated to the seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and produces 105PS/175Nm. The bigger 1.6-litre engine is paired with a five-speed manual and generates 105PS/153Nm.
