In a tussle to gain some market share in the luxury car segment of India, Volvo, the Swedish luxury carmaker is all set to launch the facelifts of S60 saloon and XC60 SUV by the end of this month. Earlier, the company announced to give a common family look to its entire lineup, and this strategy will soon bring in the facelift version of the Volvo's flagship XC90 SUV to India. We have learned that the company is aiming to introduce the new XC90 by the early next year. It is also speculated that the facelifted version of the SUV could make its way to the next year's Indian Auto Expo, which seems a perfect time and venue for any carmaker to introduce their vehicles.
Currently, the Volvo XC90 is available in both petrol and diesel guise. The petrol model is powered by a 3.2-litre, six-cylinder engine that develops 243bhp and 320Nm of top torque. While the front-wheel drive diesel model has a 2.4-litre, 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 163bhp, the AWD model is powered by the 2.4-litre turbo charged diesel engine that belts out 200bhp and 400Nm of top torque. We expect that the new XC60 will retain the same engine configuration.
Like other two models, the facelifted Volvo XC90 is expected to get the refreshed common family look, improved interiors, and the engine might go through some minor updates as well. The vehicle will house a more broader front end that incorporates new and slimmer headlights and new grille with more prominent horizontal lines. The new XC90 is also expected to get an all-new multimedia system and the TFT instrument panel. The exact pricing details for the upcoming Volvo XC90 facelift is yet to be known, but we expect it to be priced slightly higher than the current model. There are no immediate plans of the company to assemble its vehicle locally here, so the vehicle will come via CBU route.
