The Czech manufacturer, Skoda India seems to be the only brand currently doing business in the D plus category of cars. Skoda has recently launched the improved version of its flagship sedan, Superb at the starting price of Rs. 18.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of competition, there hasn't been any real competitors expect the Honda Accord and Volkswagen Passat, which are no longer going on-sale in India. So, as of the facts are concerned, it can be said that Superb will gain some solid grounds until the improvised or new editions of the above two mentioned models arrive in Indian car market. The company has made commendable efforts to make their flagship sedan look more appealing. Fundamentally speaking, the major changes are done to its exteriors and few additions of innovative features inside the car. In terms of design, features and every other aspect, the upmarket version of Superb certainly appears promising.

Exterior upgrades
The clear, precise, elegant and commanding appeal is what the redesigned Skoda Superb is all about. The striking design elements all-together brings out the premiumness of the car. Moreover, the sedan has been completely redesigned upto the A-pillars and gets new front end to it. The clean lines and just so well balanced proportions, all speak for the highest amount of precision put forward with this car. Most pronounced is the brand-new Skoda logo placed right at the nose of the front, but slightly above the grille. Other alterations include new headlamps and fog lamps, bumper, front fender and a complete new bonnet, which is to certain extent sloping downward. The facelift version gets bi-xenon headlamps with integrated daytime running LEDs, which kind of just completes the expressive face of new Superb. While, if you look at the older version of Superb, it features a very simple look, with not much of chrome over its front. The headlamps of the earlier model too featured the regular rectangular design; all these elements definitely needed some refreshment in order to keep going in the market.
The new Superb gets quite a few changes to its rear too, that includes three light strips integrated with the C-shaped tail lamps, which are considerably one of characteristic feature with this brand. LEDs with rear lights come as standard across the lineup. The licensing plate is now positioned on the boot-lid instead of bumper. The side profile of the saloon is well define with the new set of alloy wheels.
Interior upgrades
The immense amount of comfort and capacious interiors remains unrivalled with the facelift Superb. Clever and smartly designed interiors, is what the first galnce inside the car would confirm for. The new edition of Superb has showed up with best-in-class comfort, specifically with the amount of rear passenger space, the company has offered undoubtedly much space not found with other models of the segment. It sports 157 mm of rear leg room- certainly a benchmark in the premium sedan segment, and with 565-litre of luggage carrying capacity, Skoda has left no stone unturned to offer most impressive saloon of the category.
Adding to the accolades for the company, Skoda has always believed in coming up with several practical solutions inside the car. Look anywhere, there's every other options is available which makes Superb stand out of the reat. In addition to the umbrella compartment, there are several storage spaces at both front and rear of the car: storage pockets in the doors, spacious glove box, compartment to keep glasses, storage space in the folding arm rest and at various other places.
The updated verison also sports a push start button and a new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. It doesn't ends here, the feature rich package comes loaded with Adaptive Front Light System (AFS), Hill Hold control, eight airbags, three-point safety bels and height adjustable headrests.
Engine
2014 Skoda Superb facelift retains the same engine configurations- a 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel. The petrol churns max power of 158bhp, while the diesel version delivers 138bhp.
