This is one of the first time that the next generation R8 has been spied fully camouflaged testing on Nurburgring (Green Hell!). Audi introduced the R8 in 2007 and since then the super car received mild facelifts, the next-gen was expected this year but due to certain final stage changes, the launch is shoved to 2015.
As the camouflaged images reveal, the overall styling is similar to the existing R8 (that's what people liked about R8 the most). The car boosts subtle changes with imparting meaner stance (like I have some serious business to accomplish!). At the front the headlights looks edgier and is coupled with massive air intakes and huge grille. The rear profile sports almost rectangular tail lights, they looks smaller in profile than the current version. The rear diffusers look feisty and the quad trapezoidal exhaust complements the overall rear assembly. The vehicle also has active rear spoiler.
Its is expected that the 2015 model will get major upgrades in powerplants, both V8 and V10. The up-rated V8 4.2 liter unit will develop power in excess of 430Hp plus the torque figure is expected to up from 430Nm. The 5.2 liter V10 motors will also witness both power and torque improvement, the engine currently produces 525HP and 530Nm of torque. It is speculated that the Quattro-all wheel drive system will be coupled to a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Expect the scintillating mid engine two seater roadster to hit the Indian shore around mid 2015.
