2020 Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos: Specification Comparison

The China-spec SUV shows what to expect from the 2020 Kia Seltos Hyundai rival, which is expected to be launched in the first quarter

The latest generation of the Hyundai ix25, which previews the second-gen Creta for India, has just been launched in China. It is also expected to share its underpinnings and mechanicals with the Kia Seltos compact SUV. Now that we have the full launch specifications of the China-spec Creta, let’s how it fares against the Seltos:

Dimensions

The SUVs will share the same underpinnings, hence the wheelbase is identical for both. While there are minor differences in overall length, width and height because of the distinct styling, both the SUVs will have similar road presence.  

Engines

In China, the ix25 is offered with only one engine, shared with the Kia Seltos: a 1.5-litre petrol unit.

The new Creta in India will also be offered with the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Seltos. This unit makes 115PS and 250Nm mated to a 6-speed manual, with the choice of a 6-speed automatic as well. Kia also offers the Seltos with a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that produces 140PS and 242Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual with the option of a 7-speed DCT auto. This sportier powertrain is also expected to be offered in the 2020 Hyundai Creta in India. Overall, the engine options on both the SUVs will nearly identical. 

Features

The China-spec Creta also gets a host of features similar to the Kia Seltos such as multiple driving modes, embedded eSIM with internet connectivity and connected car technology, 360-degree parking camera, blind-spot monitor and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. In terms of cabin design, the ix25 dashboard is very different from the Kia Seltos and the current-gen Creta, featuring a vertical 10.4-inch touchscreen system. The 2020 Creta is also expected to get a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and disc brakes on all four wheels, like the ix25.
