BMW eyes to expand footprint in India

BMW organized an Experience Drive event in New Delhi today with a lot of flare and gloss. The top-selling luxury car brand in India also made some important announcements during the event. About its plans to launch BMW Mini Cooper, the company said that BMW Mini Cooper price in India will be no less than Rs 25 lakh and can even go beyond. The brand is also planning to bring in BMW 3 Series convertible cars by next year and then BMW 5-series touring cars might also pool in the present clad of cars in India.

Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President of BMW India talked vividly about plans and progress of the company. Displaying BMW X3 on stage, he said that the company is contriving to increase its dealers in India to 40 dealers in the next few years. The company has about 22 dealers in India as of now. BMW' will mark its 100th anniversary in 2015 and the company will launch a whole range of products to celebrate the event. The company also has plans to offer lease option for its cars in India.

It was announced that BMW’s hatchback Mini Cooper, which is much awaited, is to be launched in India in 2012 and the exact models are not yet decided. The dealerships for Mini Cooper is said to be exclusive. BMW has inaugurated the first three dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi, the latter grabbing two. In addition it was made clear that site in Mumbai has already been finalised. Earlier Schaaf also said that BMW India envisages an exuberant growth potential for the luxury car segment and has chalked out an aggressive plan to strengthen its dealer network in the country. He foresees India to be in the top ten markets worldwide for BMW in a span of ten years.
