BMW,Mercedes,Audi to expand dealership network in India

The luxury car segment is led by the German car manufacturer, BMW, followed by Mercedes Benz and Audi. Observing the increasing demand for the luxury cars in India, all the three luxury car manufacturers are eying to open an additional 38 dealerships across the country. The auto majors are expecting to sell around 60 luxury models in the year 2012, with the majority of car sales hoped to account from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The cars with price tag above Rs 26 lakhs are marked as the luxury cars in India. The luxury car manufacturers envisage selling around 20,000 cars during this year to record a growth of 70%. The trio are looking to set up their respective sales outlets in the tier II cities, while increasing their sales outlets to more than two in the top 10 metros in the country. Though last in the race, Audi India is said to be the fastest growing luxury brand in India, which is expecting to increase its dealerships from 13 to 25 by 2012. The new Audi dealerships will be inaugurated in cities like, Lucknow, West Delhi, South Mumbai, Indore, Nagpur and Coimbatore. On the other hand, the leader in the luxury segment, BMW India also envisages tripling its dealerships by 2015 to 40 from its current 18 sales outlets. The company has recently opened its new dealership in Goa.

Mercedes Benz India, with its longest heritage in the country foresees to increase its dealer network by 8 in number taking it to 65, with its presence in 32 cities. The luxury car demand in the country is expected to increase multi-fold in the coming years. To catch up with the growing demand, the three luxury automakers are putting in their best efforts. The luxury car sales are expected to see an apex growth of 150,000 units by 2020.
