The man behind the booming alliance - Renault-Nissan JV; chief operating officer of Renault and Nissan and chairman of the Russian auto group AvtoVAZ (better known as Lada automobiles) – Carlos Ghosn re-elected as chairman CEO of Reanult till 2017. Renault group has anounced that the Carlos Ghosn will be the CEO for the forthcoming 4-years. The decision was taken by the General Assembly and approved by 81.17% of the members. Ghosn extented his contract till decenber 2017. Renault, Nissan and their subsidiaries Dacia and Datsun all the four companies are doing wonders under one man - Carlos Ghosn.
The Renault-Nissan alliance is one of the best possible examples of JVs; both the companies are running strong under Ghosn. India is one of the major market for both the companies; Renault-Nissan joint venture in India was founded in 2010 and the manufacturing facility based in Chennai is producing vehicle for both Renault India Private Limited and Nissan Motor India Private Limited. The current market share of Renault is approximately 2.6% while the Nissan market share in India is less than 2%.
Apart from this, Ghosn is also behind the revival of Datsun – an economical brand of Nissan last year after a long worldwide discontinuation of close to 27 years. Ghosn re-launched the Datsun in New-Delhi, this shows that India is on the radar of Carlos! “Our target is a 10 per cent market share of the Indian market” said Carlos Ghosn chief of Renault-Nissan JV. Revival of Datsun with GO hatchback and upcoming MPV Go+ and products like redi-GO will definely fuel the desired growth.
Renault is also planning to launch a sub-4 lakh small car to double the current market share. The global small car will hit the world in 2015 and will rival the A-segment brigade. Other products from Renault like Duster facelift and its 4 wheel drive version (scheduled to be launched later this year) along with the expected Renault MPV Lodgy will attain the desired market share.
Nissan India recently launched the mid-life refresh of Micra hatchback while the Sunny update is on the cards; previously showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Expect lot of new products to roll out from the French-Japanese auto major's joint-venture in our country under Carlos Ghosn. Kudos!!
