This is just a beginning of the year 2012 and we already know what GM cars we are to see in the year to follow, thanks to the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. Observing the market demands, General Motors just did what is required of.
Chevrolet CN-100 MPV: An entry-level MPV could work wonders for the Indian car market. General Motors China, SAIC and Wuling trio came up with the best in the China car market which emerged out as CN-100 MPV.
Key Points:
Proven track record. After a smashing performance in the country GM India decided to make the same move for India as well. The 1.3 L Fiat’s multijet engine locally produced in India at its Talegaon plant in Pune will be used to power the MPV.
Looks might not be the selling point for the Chevrolet CN-100 MPV what could work in favour is its utility factor which is good enough for seven passengers and the last row of the passenger seats can be traded in for extra boot space. Mid to end of 2012 is when we can expect the launch happening. Chevrolet CN-100 price would turn out to be an advantage if GM India gets it right.
Chevrolet Sail: Once again the brainchild of the trio, GM china, SAIC and Wuling, but Chevrolet Sail hatchback is not a plain Jane. We might probably see the Chevrolet Sail twins replacing the Chevrolet Aveo and Aveo UVA in future.
Key Points:
Like Chevy Beat, we will see the 1.2 L petrol engine and a 1.3 L Fiat Multijet engine powering the car.
Exteriors - undeniably charming. Space is also good, latest in technology.
Chevrolet Sail price is something to look forward to, but expect it to be in the range of Rs 5 lakh rivalling Maruti Swift and likes.
