For a long time now, ‘somewhere in London’, the ex-Top Gear trio – Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – has been trying to name its upcoming TV series. And the three have finally arrived at a conclusion. The series will be called The Grand Tour (GT, in short) and will be aired around September this year. The Grand Tour will be shot at a different location every week and the studio will be a big tent. Hammond tweeted: “Best of all, we've got a MASSIVE tent as our studio. Same tent, different view, different crowd every week on our Grand Tour.”
A series of videos was posted on their Facebook page where the three were trying to think of and reach a consensus on the name in their typical fashion. The last video finally shows a scratch list with all the suggested names and, finally, the accepted name. Clarkson was fired from BBC’s Top Gear in March 2015 as a result of a fight with Oisin Tymon, a producer of the show. Hammond and May also left and, since then, the three have been planning a united return.
Ever since the announcement, the trio has been busy answering fans who seem to hold rather strong opinions about the name. Clarkson has been especially busy on social media, giving witty replies to his fans. He has also had a few crashes on the set, including a big one which he tweeted about.
The entire universe of petrolheads is eagerly waiting for the show to begin airing. We are also looking forward to seeing our beloved three back in action.
