F1 GP race in India postponed, Bahrain to host it on October 30

The Formula 1 Gand Prix race that was scheduled to be held in India in October will now be held in Bahrain. Recently, the World Motor Sports Council (WMSC) has made the decision and as per reports it would be held on October 30 this year in Bahrain. With this, the date when India would be hosting its first ever F1 Grand Prix has been postponed. Lately, World Motor Sport Council met in Paris on September 8, 2010 and announced that India would host the F1 Grand Prix in October 2011.

It is said that India would now probably host the last race of the season but the date when India would be hosting the last race of the Grand Prix season is not yet declared. The decision last year to organize the F1 race in India was welcomed by racing car enthusiasts. In the meanwhile some racing cars such as Audi RS5 and recently Ferrari cars were launched in India to somewhat give a taste of F1 cars in India. Audi TT though a coupe also gives a feel of being in a F1 car.

In a fact finding mission the FIA vice president Carlos Gracia is said to have visited Bahrain in May so as to assess the situation and based on this visit it was decided that the proposed F1 race would be held in Bahrain and not in India. Now, it is hoped that the newly built race track at Buddha International Racing Circuit will host a Formula one race at the end of this season. The decision to shift the nation from India to Bahrain came after the organizers found massive backing by the Bahrain government coupled with the support of the local pressure groups.

Now, with India about to host the India GP closing race of the season the prize ceremony will be held in the country along with the FIA’s Annual General Assembly. Meanwhile, Bahrain has welcomed the move by the WMSC and it hopes that with the Grand prix race in the country, the economy will get a boost and there would be much enthusiasm in the country. The move has also been appreciated by the groups agitating for bringing in the grand prix race to Bahrain.
