Fiat is returning to US auto industry in 2011, however the vanguard 500 isn't living up to its popularity. The car with five speed manual transmission is rated at 30/38 MPG on the other hand the Six speed automatic transmission only gives a rating of 27/34.
The 40 MPG is the new number for the small car however Fiat 500 offered in $15,500 is to much for the small car segment, and the gas mileage is not up to the standards. Chevy Cruze Eco, Hyundai Elantra and Ford Focus all have 40 MPG highway with automatic transmission and also comes in six speed manual transmission. Among its competitors the five speed manual in Fiat 500 falling short.
