Fiat looking for a sales rise to 1 lakh units

A joint venture of 50:50 partnership between the Fiat Group Automobiles SpA and Tata Motors seems to bring a increase in the sales of the cars which was earlier just 4,500 units in the previous year and it is expected to cross a mark of 100,000 car units till by the end of the year 2011. Company officials are expecting that the target can be fulfilled nearly 90% with the sales of Fiat Linea and Fiat Grand Punto rising soon after they are launched. Along with this nearly 10% of the cars will also be exported to other countries also. These two cars of the company are expected to be launched after the first six months of the year-2009. According to the company officials the company is expecting a 40,000 unit sales and the landmark is be touched for the sales of nearly 80,000 car models till by the end of 2010. Some of the interesting modifications of the car company includes the categorization of Fiat Grand Punto in the list of hatchback category of cars and also in the list of Rs.5 lakh category. Fiat Linea is a car coming under the category of C+ segment vehicles is expecting a sell of nearly 24,000 units in its first year. Other car models include Grand Punto, Palio, Bravo and Fiat 500. Fiat is alo planning to launch a new car in the category of small cars and that too by 2010. Besides this Fiat is also planning to modify its model Fiat Palio in the year 2010. With all these innovations it is expected that company will reach a mark of 100,000 sales mark by the year 2011. According to the president and CEO of the company both Fiat Linea and Grand Punto are expected to be manufactured in association with the Tata-Fiat from the manufacturing unit situated at Ranjangaon.
