Ford EcoSport compact SUV India bound?

Ford India had recently made an official announcement that it will launch around 8 brand new cars in the country by 2015. Out of these eight models, new Ford Fiesta has already been launched. Now seven new models will hit the Indian roads in the next 3 years. If rumours are to be believed then Ford Fiesta hatchback, Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo are amongst the 7 new products lined up for India. Another model that will make Ford India’s portfolio stronger is Ford EcoSport, which is a compact SUV. This new compact SUV will debut in the Indian car market by early 2012.

It is expected that Ford EcoSport will do wonders to the SUV segment as Ford Figo did to the hatchback segment of the Indian car market. The new Ford EcoSport is basically a compact SUV, which will be priced reasonably. This new sports utility vehicle by Ford India makes use of numerous components from Ford Fiesta and is based on the similar platform. Ford EcoSport was launched in 2004 in places like Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil and registered huge success. In the above mentioned car markets, the main competitors of Ford EcoSport comprised of Volkswagen CrossFox and Fiat Palio weekend/adventure. However, when Ford EcoSport SUV arrives in India, it will face a tough competition from Renault Duster.

The major features of Ford EcoSport compact SUV include 1.5 litre of DuraTroq diesel motors, which is taken from the new Ford Fiesta. The engine of Ford EcoSport keeps the capacity to churn out maximum power of 90 BHP accompanied with 204 Nm of torque. The SUV has a high fuel efficiency, which in turn would provide a decent mileage. Ford EcoSport price in India is kept under the wraps, but if it is priced near Rs. 8 lakh, then nobody can stop the new Ford EcoSport from being highly successful.
