The wait for the launch of Honda's first ever diesel vehicle, the Amaze is finally coming to an end, Honda has now officially confirmed the launch of the vehicle to be on April 11. The company has also started taking bookings for the Amaze all over India. The company has also revealed the engine specs of Honda Diesel. Returning 100PS (98-99bhp) and 25.8kmpl of mileage, the Amaze proves it to be the most powerful and most fuel efficient car of its league.

The above mentioned details of the car have been put up on the company's official website. Housing the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, the Honda Amaze will produce the maximum power output of 100PS (98-99bhp), which means about 25bhp (that's HUGE difference) more than the segment topper- Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire's diesel version. When it comes to mileage, the Amaze yet again beats the Swift Dzire; as against the diesel version of Swift Dzire's 23.4kmpl, the Amaze returns the best-in-class fuel economy of 25.8kmpl. The mileage figure not only proves the Amaze to be the most fuel efficient car of its segment, with the ARAI claimed mileage of 25.8kmpl, it becomes the most fuel efficient car in India.

Honda Amaze is basically the extended version of the Brio hatchback, so both the cars share most parts including the platform and the features, however Amaze will come up with more functions and of course an additional boot. Along with the highly fuel efficient 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, the Amaze petrol will carry the similar 1.2-litre i-VTEC motor used in the Brio, which too is one of the most fuel efficient and powerful petrol engines today we have in hatchback segment.

Honda Amaze Interiors

And as we reported you earlier, the Honda Amaze is likely to come up with the 2 years maintenance package, extended warranty scheme and road side assistance program, so to make sure that the maintenance of the car is no more a problem. The Honda Amaze will have a ground clearance of around 165mm, 4.6 metre turning radius, 8-spoke 14 inches alloy wheels, 175/65 R14 tyres, manual air-conditioning, Dual airbags, ABS & EBD, Driver's seat height adjustment, Rear demister, Blinkers integrated ORVMs, Center armrest with cup-holders in Rear seat, 400-litre boot, Fabric seats with integrated head-rests, front chrome grill and Rear chrome garnish, proving the Amaze to be a feature rich car. The interiors of the car remind you of Honda Brio, it has the similar dashboard, but Amaze has more to offer to its customers. The vehicle is also likely to come in an automatic variant, sporting the similar five-speed transmission used in Brio AT. The Amaze is likely to be made available in a total six colour options including Black, Silver, White, Azure Grey, Carnelian red peal and Blue.

All the above mentioned features and specifications prove the Amaze to be a really good car, it's just the pricing that will play a crucial role in deciding the future of Honda's first diesel car. And we are sure, Honda won't upset its lovers with the pricing as well, we are expecting the petrol variant of the car to be around Rs 5 lakh, while diesel to be around Rs 5.5-6 lakh. And what makes us quote these prices is the exceeding localisation.
