Is Ford Giving EcoSport a Mild Facelift?

Ford has started testing an updated version of the EcoSport compact SUV likely for the European markets. And according to the media reports, the refreshed SUV will make its public appearance at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The major change you’ll notice is the removal of spare wheel from the boot-lid. Moreover, its almost two year since the SUV went on to sale globally, a mid-life refresh is expected sometime next year - so is this the new EcoSport?
Speaking of the changes, the spyshots reveals that Ford has ditched the rear mounted spare wheel on the EcoSport. Instead of the spare wheel, it now sports licence plate and also features a redesigned rear bumper. Though there are no spyshots of the front profile but expect subtle changes. As of now, there’s no confirmation about the removal of spare wheel for the entry level variants or the entire range. Interiors are likely to remain same or could features a 6.5-inch touch screen infotainment system like the recently updated Fiesta Titanium Plus sedan at the Sao Paulo Motor Show.
As this is a mid-life refresh, mechanically the EcoSport is expected to remain same worldwide. Globally, the Fiesta-based crossover is powered by Ford’s 1.0 liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder turbo motor producing 123bhp and 170Nm of max torque. Diesel trims are powered by 1.5-liter 4-cylinder TDCI unit, chucking out 89bhp and 204Nm of peak torque. Petrol trims also get naturally aspirated 1.5-liter TiVCT petrol producing 110bhp and 140Nm of torque. Transmission offered is 5-speed manual and dual-clutch powershift automatic.
