Mahindra mulls automatic gearbox version of XUV 500

Mahindra & Mahindra recently launched its amazing SUV Mahindra XUV 500 priced astonishingly low with loads of features. All the 3 versions released-Mahindra XUV 500 W6 2D, Mahindra XUV 500 W8 2D and Mahindra XUV 500 AWD, are equipped with 6 speed manual gearbox for transmission. However, the Cheetah style vehicle XUV 500 is expected to open up new markets for Mahindra in Europe, South America and Australia also where automatic gearboxes are required as an indispensable feature across all car models. So, expect an automatic Mahindra XUV 500 rolling out of Mahindra’s unit soon.

 

The success mantra for Mahindra XUV 500 in developed oversees market is an automatic gearbox. Mahindra XUV 500 has huge export targets in mind for the XUV 500 SUV and working on the automatic version will add fuel to its target. M&M claims that it has arrived at the design of this SUV after an intensive research and survey that has been conducted in various western markets besides India. Mahindra XUV 500 is an all-new avatar by Mahindra and it takes global design signaling across the globe presence of the company.

 

Mahindra XUV 500 is the eighth car by Mahindra in India and is the outcome of exhaustive research and development of over four years. The new Mahindra SUV is produced at the Chakan plant and incorporates global SUV features. The aerodynamic monocoque design based SUV Mahindra XUV 500 is entirely different from the traditionally designed cars. Contrary to the conventional design in which the car is made of a frame and then it is covered with lightweight metal sheets, the XUV 500 body is a single piece body in which the body and chassis are one piece. It also has the first-ever transversely placed engine that has increased the passenger space inside and has also improved safety in case of an impact besides a larger crumple zone.
