Mahindra and Mahindra at last officially launched its new and improved Mahindra Xylo MPV in India today! This face-lifted version of Mahindra Xylo is interesting and exciting. The crisp styling done to the exterior is impressive. Initially, Mahindra and Mahindra came in with Mahindra Xylo in January 2009 and 90,000 Xylo cars have been sold since then. After these 3 years; the company has given this MPV a major facelift for the first time seeing the intense competition in MPV segment these days. This launch of Mahindra Xylo facelift will be followed by the launch of Mahindra Mini Xylo that has been scheduled this year itself. Many notable features have led to an increase in the new Mahindra Xylo facelift price which has been kept Rs 7.37 for base variant.

New Mahindra Xylo

The new Mahindra Xylo MPV is an absolute head-turner. The exteriors are more pleasing and catchy to the eye as compared to the current model in the market. The style cues have been inspired from its prominent seller, Mahindra XUV 500. 2012 Mahindra Xylo features revamped headlamps with turn indicators positioned a bit differently. The front grille has been given a slight rectangular look and has been made a bit thinner and sleeker. The rear end of the car has also been improved to enhance the visual appeal of the MPV. The Mahindra badge now adorns a proud hood that makes it look more attractive. On the other hand, M&M didn’t fiddle with the side profile of Xylo too much but new wheel arch with inclusion of fresh footsteps can be seen in side. The revived tail lamps at the rear end manage to steal the show. A rear spoiler will add practicality to the aerodynamics of the car.

The interiors of the car have also been upgraded and have been made more comfortable and chic. One can enjoy the benefits of new cruise control, naïve voice recognition feature, steering mounted audio and phone controls, twin airbags, ABS, Dual air conditioning in the top end E9 variant. Five variants have been launched namely Mahindra Xylo D2, Mahindra Xylo D4, Mahindra Xylo E4, Mahindra Xylo E8 and Mahindra Xylo E9.  Besides the visible changes on the exterior and interiors, one of the major changes is hidden under the bonnet.

New Mahindra Xylo

The 2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV retains the active and responsive 2489cc mDI CRDE diesel engine that belts out 95 Ps of power a 220 Nm of torque in the D2 and D4 variant and 2498 cc of mEagle CRDe diesel engine, which used to generate 112 PS of peak power along with 260 Nm of peak torque in the E4 and the E8 variants. M&M has added the lighter, 2179 cc mHawk engine that powers the Scorpio and puts out 120PS of power and 280 Nm of torque – evidently better than the CRDe motor. This mighty muscular engine powers the top-end variant, Mahindra Xylo E9.
