The two top compact car makers of India, Maruti and Hyundai has announced special discount offers for Govt. employees so that now they have been able to more than double their sales through their special schemes for Government and public sector employees.
Since October, Maruti and Hyundai had announced discount schemes to attract Government employees to buy cars. The strategy to harp on sales to Government employees was also considering the fact that auto industry has been on a slow lane and facing fall in sales.
Mr Mayank Pareek, Executive Officer, Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, told that normally they sell 3,000 to 4,000 cars to Central Government and public sector employees but after offering the special discount scheme to Govt. employees in October they sold 10,000 cars to Government staff.
Hyundai also sold 2,000 to 2,500 more cars to Government employees through its discounts. Hyundai Motor India spokesperson said that after offering discount, in the first month they sold about 3,000 cars and in the second month, it increased to around 3,500.
