Maruti Ertiga launch-one day to go

Maruti Suzuki India is setting the stage for the much-awaited launch of its new MPV, Maruti Ertiga. The official launch of Maruti Ertiga is going to take place at 11:45 am on Thursday, 12th April at Maruti’s Headquarters in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. According to Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager – Sales and Marketing of Maruti Suzuki India, with this new car the company plans to create a niche segment of compact and affordable multi purpose vehicles in between hatchbacks and larger utility vehicles. Maruti Ertiga is targeting the customers that wish to upgrade from hatchback to bigger vehicles with reasonable price tags and currently the MPVs are bearing expensive price tags that start from Rs. 9- Rs. 10 lakh, he added.

Mr. Srivastava also mentioned that MSI has named this new car as LUV (Life Utility Vehicle) as its design and use reflects the active lifestyle and requirements of urban customers. Maruti Ertiga prices are expected to start from Rs. 7 lakh in comparison to the segment leading Toyota Innova which is priced between Rs. 8.89 lakh and Rs. 13.58 lakh and Mahindra Xylo which is priced upwards of Rs. 7.33 lakh (All prices indicated ex-showroom, Delhi). The Maruti Ertiga MPV is expected to outshine Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo with the brand name of Maruti Suzuki, the pricing strategy and the fuel efficiency Maruti cars offer, backing it up. Maruti Ertiga has an impressive fuel efficiency of 16.02 kmpl for its petrol variant which is powered by the new 1.4-liter K-series engine. The fuel efficiency is 20.77 kmpl for its diesel variant which drives power from 1.3-liter engine.

On the other hand, the petrol variant of Toyota Innova offers 8.3 kmpl in city and 12.4 kmpl on highways, the diesel variant offers 10.2 kmpl in city and 12.8 on highways. Another major advantage of Maruti Ertiga over other utility vehicles is its condensed design. This new MPV is compact which makes this car easy to maneuver in the growing traffic and park in cramped up spaces; the looks are pretty stylish too. The test drive cars of Ertiga have already hit the showroom and the bookings have been opened as well. The seven seater LUV Maruti Ertiga is expected to establish Maruti Suzuki in the utility segment which the Maruti Gypsy and Grand Vitara failed at.
