Maruti Suzuki India has retained the throne of India's largest passenger car manufacturers for a long time. But the crunch of stifling competition is clearly visible as Maruti is working head over heels to keep its dominance. The company claims to have produced best fuel efficient cars and is now launching a vigorous facelift campaign for some of its best selling models. The recently launched Maruti A-star with refurbished interiors managed to create little buzz in the market. But Maruti’s hands have not been idle, we were thrilled to see a spy shot of revamped new Maruti Ritz which tells what they have been up to.

A development mule of 2012 Maruti Ritz was spotted on Delhi-Gurgaon road undergoing real world physical test on the Indian roads. Though the exteriors were heavily disguised with a black tape, we managed to scrape out some significant changes. The front bumper was tweaked and front grille was simultaneously adjusted to accommodate modified bumper. Headlamp was also twisted to give new Ritz an edgier feel.

2012 Maruti Ritz will probably be powered by a 1.2 litre K series engine which will be reengineered to increase its fuel efficiency. VVT technology might be incorporated to boost the strength of engine. Judging by the progress so far, it seems new Maruti Ritz will hit the roads pretty soon. However, the price of new Ritz is a delicate issue. It is contemplated to be set in order to increase Maruti’s market share while avoiding competition with its own vehicles like Swift.
