Maruti Suzuki India Sales down by 4.8 % in March 2013

India's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India have sold a total of 119,937 units in March 2013. The company had sold 125,952 units in the same month of 2012 resulting in a 4.8 per cent fall in sales. However, the company registered a 3.3 per cent growth overall in 2012-13 fiscal. MSIL sold 11,71,434 units in 2012-13 as compared to 11,33,465 units sold in 2011-12.

The domestic market sales of MSI in the month of March 2013 stood at 107,890 units, 4.3 per cent lower than the 112,724 units sold in March 2012. On the other hand, the domestic sales for complete fiscal were up by 4.4 per cent to 10,51,046 units as against the 10,06,316 units sold in 2011-12. The export market of MSI in March 2013 dropped drastically at 8.9 per cent to 12,046 units from 13,228 units in March 2012. Even the entire year export market of the company too was down by 5.5 per cent, 120,388 units were exported in 2012-13 as against 127,379 units sold in 2011-12.

The compact segment (comprises of Estilo, Swift and Ritz) too registered a slowdown, as MSI sold a total of 25,868 units in March 2013 as against 27,913 units in March 2012. However, the sales of Swift Dzire had gone up by 22 per cent to 20,078 units in March 2013 from 16,451 in 2012 March.  The Sales of the company's C segment sedan SX4 received a big slowdown, MSI sold only 903 units of SX4 in March 2013 as compared to 1520 units in previous year. Meanwhile, The MPV and SUV segment cars like Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga sales increased from 1,530 units in March 2012 to 6,488 units in March 2013.
