The undisputed king of the Indian auto market is in news again with yet another lucrative offer for its well known car Maruti Wagon R. Following the footsteps of General Motors, the Indian auto industry czar Maruti is also coming up with dual fuel Petrol-LPG option which will be available in Maruti Wagon R.
The duo variant will be equipped with stuff like a safety module which cuts fuel supply in case of a leak or an accident. Not only this but the all new WagonR will also have two ECU's, which will help in toggling from one option to the other. These ECU's will work in tandem via a Controller Area Network(CAN) system which will enable the driver to switch from one option to the other through a dashboard mounted switch.

LPG being a more corrosive form of fuel specifically for engine and related parts ,makes it important to incorporate modifications which Maruti has not neglected. The fuel filling nozzle, which unlike other LPG cars stick out like a sore thumb on the body, is neatly recessed into the main filler cap of the WagonR Duo.
Maruti WagonR Duo's LPG tank is placed in the space which otherwise would have played host to the spare tire, compromising on the boot area unlike Chevrolet Beat LPG. Maruti on the other hand has endowed the Maruti WagonR with a foldable rear seat option which will allow ample luggage space.

The all new Maruti Wagon R Duo will deliver an ARAI certified 4.4 KMPL on LPG and 18.4 KMPL on petrol, which is the highest in the segment. The unique selling point of the car is its low cost along with the low maintenance characteristic, which is one of the reason Maruti WagonR has been able to perform pretty well in the Indian auto market in the last 10 years. The 2011 Maruti WagonR Dou LXi will be priced at Rs 4,01,165 ex-showroom Delhi, which is INR 33,000 more expensive than its petrol variant.
