Mclaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept images revealed

Mclaren had recently unveiled the 650S, the company had decided to carry on with 650S and the P1 and the MP4-12C has been discontinued. However, now the company has revealed the Mclaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept. The MSO abbreviates as Mclaren Special Operations, and this is the Woking-based manufacturer’s new customisation team.

This has upgrades for mechanicals and cosmetics of the car and will be available on the Coupe and even the Spider. At the moment, the company is showcasing these upgrades around China, but these will be available everywhere. As the Chinese market is the biggest for Mclaren at the moment, the company is showcasing these vehicles first there.

The interiors of theMSO Concept comes fitted with the fixed-back carbon fibre racing seats, which are based on the lightweight design found in the McLaren P1. These are finished in carbon black leather. The seats position the occupants lower in the car and for better upper and lower body support. These seats help to shed the weight of the 650S by 15 kilograms. It also gets satin carbon fibre touches all throughout the cabin, which is further enhanced by the switchgear and bezels that are finished in contrasting gloss black for a sporty looking cabin.

The MSO 650S Coupe Concept gets a ‘Agrigan Black’ paint, which is a metallic black and has been developed in-house with a deep ruby red along with metallic flakes. The paint looks different under sunlight and that adds on to the stylish design of the 650S. On the inside, what the 650S gets is satin-finished carbon fibre highlights. The carbon fibre accents are light in weight and this is used to make the  front splitter and air intakes, which have been complemented by bespoke MSO carbon fibre side blades and the MSO ear diffuser. The satin finish isn’t just premium but it also offers increased improvements to the airflow along the edges of the bodywork. The MSO has ensured more changes on the 650S for its exclusive customers. The engine bay has also been garnished with satin black engine covers and a satin finish to all carbon fibre parts. The purposeful exterior look of the MSO 650S Coupe Concept is finished with the addition of a set of special satin black finished lightweight ‘650S’ alloy wheels, shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres- a personalised touch to the tyres as well.

At the rear, the GT3-inspired rear bumper features a carbon fibre centre section, and the lightweight material carries through to the carbon fibre airbrake and unique MSO rear diffuser. The MSO 650S Coupe Concept is presented as a one-off design study, and MSO is monitoring reaction regarding any potential production examples. These styling upgrades can also be fitted to the 12C, as the production has stopped, we expect it could be done on the remaining models that aren’t sold yet.
