The August of 2011 saw Volkswagen India launching the new sedan Jetta diesel and now April 2012 is expected to witness another such event. This time Volkswagen is launching the petrol variant of the new Jetta which is powered with new 1.4 liter TSI petrol motor. Initially, the Volkswagen Jetta was expected to be housed with the 1.8 liter TSI motor that is already being used to power Skoda Laura and Skoda Superb from the Volkswagen group. But now the company is powering the new Jetta with a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine that drives a power of 120 BHP. This engine will supposedly give the customers a good combination of performance, fuel economy and satisfaction.

Since price plays the biggest role in the making and destroying of a car, the Volkswagen Jetta petrol is anticipated to be priced very competitively. The new Jetta petrol will be contending with the likes of Skoda Laura, Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and Honda Civic and hence the aggressive pricing strategy is very much required. Hitting the showrooms in the late April, the 1.4L TSI Volkswagen Jetta might sit below the Skoda Laura in terms of prices because of its smaller engine. If at all this happens, Volkswagen Jetta petrol would be the first car to be positioned below any model of the sister brand, Skoda. This competitive pricing is sure to make the new Jetta petrol a more compelling buy.
