Nissan Motors, Japan based leading car maker, is gearing-up for the launch of a new generation hybrid system for its Infiniti luxury model. The new Hybrid system equipped Infiniti will be available for sale by the end of this year. The launch of the new technology can be seen as a big step ahead for the Nissan Motors in the direction of adopting greener technologies in its vehicles worldwide.

With this, the company is in the final stage of the launch of its zero-emission electric car Leaf, which is expected to be introduced in the world market by the end of this quarter. Nissan sells an array of gasoline-run vehicles worldwide, which provides a large platform for the company to launch the green versions of these cars globally.

In this new hybrid system, the engine automatically turns off whenever the car comes to a temporary stop like at a traffic light. With this, the new system has a unique way of fuel injection which enhances the fuel economy of the car. The Infiniti hybrid model is already available for sale in the Japan market where it has been named as Fuga. The Fuga model comes equipped with two type of clutches that enable the vehicle to run along as an electric vehicle for a much longer time as compared to the vehicles which come equipped with a single clutch.

According to Mr Takao Katagiri, senior vice president of the company, in Japan, 20 models, or slightly more than a third of Nissan products, are categorized as green. He added that the company wants its customers to recognize Nissan as having a wide range of progressive ecological cars.

The company however, hasn't disclosed any details regarding the fuel economy of this car. Though Nissan has indicated that the mileage of this model will be in line with the other available compact cars in the market, which would mean that the new car will offer almost double the fuel economy of a sedan.
