The mileage offered by the diesel and petrol engine is around 20.77 kmpl and 16.02 kmpl respectively. Maruti Suzuki has bestowed Ertiga with top of the class features like ABS system, audio controls on the steering, plush duel tone interiors with the beige theme and also the key-less entry for the top end model. The exterior of the new car is impressive with unique headlights that are sharply peeled back, the chrome slat slim grille and the body-colored front bumper. The Maruti Ertiga MPV seems to be designed with the saying ‘Beauty in Simplicity’ kept in mind. The car sports three well-spaced rows with a seating layout of 2x3x2 that offer great comfort, legroom, headroom and shoulder support. The second and third rows are foldable to provide extra boot space.

According to the Managing Executive Officer of Sales and Marketing, Mayank Pareek, the company is focusing on India as Ertiga’s first market and would later consider introducing it in the ASEAN countires like Indonesia. The SUV segment in India accounts for the 14 percent of the total passenger vehicles and has a CAGR of 15 percent with average sales in a month of 30,000 units. Maruti Suzuki India has faced a depreciation of 12.6 in the annual sales with small cars facing the maximum of 14 percent till Feb 2012. The company is thus looking forward to expanding its footprint in SUV segment and enhancing its sales with the advent of Ertiga MPV. The target is to give birth to a whole new market for compact utility vehicles like it did with Swift hatchback in 2005 by creating a premium hatchback segment.
