Proton, the Malaysian automobile manufacturer is planning big to enter the all lucrative and exponentially growing Indian market. The company is on a hunt of a partner to make its way in this competitive market which is known as the second largest auto market on globe after China.
Addressing the issue, Malaysia's International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mukhriz Dr Mahathir commented that Indian Auto market is lucrative but at the same time it holds great competition which is going to be the biggest challenge for Proton and if it can enter this market, it can certainly make its way in any other market on globe.
He also suggested that Proton will mark its entry in Indian market initially with small number of cars and if the company is able to stand the competition, it can certainly progress abysmally in this market. Proton hopes to tie up with another automobile major which can actually help the company with the maintenance service and good investment.
As per the industry experts, the company has to venture in Indian Auto market smartly and a free trade agreement has to be signed between the two countries. Proton is well established company of Malaysia since 1983 and enjoyed a monopoly till 1993 when a major competitor Perodu came into existence as the second Malaysian Auto company. Proton has been working effectively in its native country and has build up a strong brand image. The company's business is not limited to the Malaysian boundaries rather it also exports its models in countries like South Africa, United Kingdom and Australia. And now the company is planning to bring its roots in ever growing Indian Auto market. The company has a good experience in the field and is sure to bring high end technology but at the same time it also has to face a hard core competition in almost all segments. If the company survives the deep competition in Indian market it will surely develop and nurture in future.
