Aston Martin, in a bid to compete with its rivals like McLaren and Ferrari, has reportedly struck a deal with the Indian F1 team, Sahara Force F1 which is headed by Vijay Mallya. According to the deal, from 2016 onwards, the team would be renamed as Aston Martin Racing. According to the sources, Mercedes (which owns 5% of Aston Martin) has also given a green signal to the agreement. Force India is already a familiar name in the world of Formula racing. With Aston Martin striking a deal with this Indian brand, marque will have a perfect platform to return to F1 after 1960.

“If tomorrow someone comes and offers me a good sum of money for title sponsorship, I’ll seek the team name. If the marque comes along and I have to change the team name, I have to look at what it does for the team in terms of profile. It’s premature to talk about it now, but we’re talking”, hinted Vijay Mallya.
The cars are expected to show a new Blue and Gold livery to represent the new title sponsor Johnnie Walker, currently supporting McLaren Honda. The future of brand Force India remains to be seen too, assuming all the speculations come out true.
