Sahara Force India

Team Sahara Force India is preparing hard for the 2016 edition of the Formula 1 championship. Their driver, Nico Hülkenberg posted the fastest time at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during test 1- day 3 on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. He completed 99 laps in testing and posted the fastest time of 1:23:110 (SS).

We Indians, as a group, are emotional people. We relate ourselves closely to anything related to our nation or things which represent our nation on an international podium. And when we perform well at those events, it becomes an icing on top of the cake. This is exactly what happened with the iconic Indian team, tearing asphalt with other international teams on the F1 circuits. Let's have a closer look at the at the Force India Team of the 2016 season.

THE CAR

VJM09

The 2016 Force India Formula 1 car is called VJM09. Painted in Black and Silver, with hints of our tricolor, it is definitely the best looking car in the series. The car has a Carbon fibre composite, monocoque chassis with Zylon side anti-intrusion panels. Suspension orientation is upright and the car runs on Motegi Racing forged wheels wrapped under Pirelli rubber. Power is provided by a Mercedes AMG High Performance V6 Turbo 1.6-litre engine. This V6 is mated to a Mercedes AMG F1 8-speed, semi-automatic seamless shift transmission.

With high expectations from the 2016 season, Mr. Vijay Mallya, team principal and managing director said, “Off the back of our best season ever I want us to begin 2016 in the same way that we ended 2015. If you think back to the last race in Abu Dhabi, we were the third fastest team that weekend and took the fight to Ferrari in qualifying and the race. I’m not saying we can do that in Melbourne, but we set the bar high in 2015 and we should try and push it higher in 2016. At the very least our target must be to maintain fifth place and target fourth place as a stretch objective.”
