Skoda cars get pricier, Rapid now starts at Rs 6.9 lakh

Skoda Auto India has announced a revised pricing across its product range. The increase varies from 2.2 % to 5.1 % across products. The new prices are in line with changing market conditions and would be effective immediately. The revised pricing will mean that the Skoda Fabia range will start at Rs. 4.6 lakh while the bestselling Rapid will now be available at a starting price of Rs. 6.9 lakh, the Skoda Laura range will now start at Rs. 12.9 lakh and the Yeti will be available at a starting price of 13.9 lakh.

The flagship Superb will also see a price rise and will retail at a starting price of 19.6 lakh. Skodahas been operating in India since November 2001 as a subsidiary of Skoda Auto a. s. Czech Republic (Volkswagen Group), one of the fastest growing car manufacturers in Europe. It has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Shendra near Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The facility is spread across 300,000 sq. mt. Skoda Auto India has 5 models on sale in India – Skoda Superb, Skoda Laura, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Yeti and the recently launched Skoda Rapid. Skoda Auto India has a network of 90 outlets across the country and has sold over 138,341 units since December 2001.
