Skoda not to alter its luxury brand image to favor Volkswagen

Skoda India has conceived a brand image of more luxurious brand than its parent Volkswagen, though it has positioned itself as a notch lower than Volkswagen. Ashutosh Dixit, Senior GM Sales and Marketing Skoda Auto India commented that they were not in the mass segment and would not dilute their position to favour Volkswagen and also added that the latter had to search its own positioning in the country.  Skoda India will concentrate on strengthening its own brand as a provider of value for quality.

Skoda is focussing on consolidate its position and for that it has come up with a new concept of boutique outlets which are different from its existing showrooms. These boutiques are embraced with contemporary ambience placed in the high streets of metros which are offering a unique blend of lifestyle. Skoda will open 15 such boutiques this year which will increase the number of outlets to 75 across India from the current 60. The boutique will offer Skoda’s merchandise and may be accessories as well. Skoda Yeti a new SUV powered by a 2 litre diesel engine will hit the Indian road by the second half of this year. Currently Skoda Superb, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Laura and Skoda Fabia are running successfully on the Indian roads.
