Suzuki showcases India Bound - SX4 Cross @ 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show

Suzuki has showcased SX4 Cross at the on-going Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. We all know its coming to our country, remember Maruti had showcased it at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year in Feb. But unlike the Expo showcased vehicle, the Brazil one features a contrasting dual-tone roof. Popular in Europe, both India and Brazil are getting the second generation of this crossover.

Talking about  the crossover, Maruti has already begun testing the SX4 Cross in India for quite a while now and since the country’s largest automaker is on a launching-spree this year, starting with the Celerio, Ciaz, Swift facelift and upcoming Alto K10 and Dzire facelift. Next product would probably be the Sx4 Cross after the Dzire facelift. The vehicle is set to compete with Ford’s EcoSport, Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster. And it is also expected to get Suzuki’s ALLGRIP AWD (All Wheel Drive), it would give tough tiff to Duster AWD. Moreover, Maruti is also giving it India centric changes. 

As the Indian version is reportedly getting alterations, the expected powertrains are the one in Ciaz - 1.3L DDiS200 and 1.4 L K-Series VVT contrary to its European counterpart featuring 1.6 liter diesel and petrol. Speaking of the transmissions, petrol is expected to get 5-speed MT likely with an automatic option, diesel will get either 5-speed MT or 6-speed MT. Since Maruti is on a fuel efficiency tag-spree with the Ciaz, Swift and the upcoming Alto K10, expect a meaty figure from SX4 Cross!
