Tata Motors Appointed Mr. Carl-Peter Forster as Managing Director

At the meeting of Tata Motors’ Board of Directors today, Mr. Carl-Peter Forster was appointed as Managing Director and Group CEO of the Company with effect from April 1, 2010. This is in continuation of the announcement on February 15, 2010 of the appointment of Mr. Forster as the Group CEO, with overall responsibility of Tata Motors’ operations globally, including Jaguar and Land Rover.
The Tata Motors is country's largest car maker as far as revenue is concern. Company is performing well in both commercial and passenger vehicle segment. The Tata Motors Group global sales, comprising of Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with distributed brands in India, and Jaguar and Land Rover, were 89,768 nos. in February 2010, a growth of 59% over February 2009. Cumulative sales for the fiscal (April 2009 – February 2010) are 771,238, higher by 17% compared to the corresponding period in 2008-09.
On the other hand Jaguar Land Rover global sales in February 2010 were 17,197 vehicles, higher by 60%. Jaguar sales for the month were 3,292, higher by 55%, while Land Rover sales were 13,905, higher by 62%. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal are 170,444 nos., lower by 16%. Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 42,776 nos., lower by 26%, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 127,668 nos., lower by 11%.
