After issues with the labour union, Toyota management had shut down its plant operations at its Indian-plant near Bengaluru. Last evening, Toyota realised a statement mentioning, “At the instance of the Labour Department, we appreciate the efforts taken by the Govt. of Karnataka for this reconciliation process. Discussions have taken place today but no conclusion has yet been arrived at. Another round of meeting with the Deputy Labour Commissioner has been scheduled for tomorrow.”

Toyota had two rounds of discussion with the Karnataka Government and this will be carried forward today also. The production at the plant for the time being has been discontinued, but soon we can expect the plant to open. Toyota management seems to be happy with the current discussions and also states that the Karnataka government has been very helpful and co-operative to solve this conflict between the two parties.

Couple of days ago, the Japanese manufacturer realized a statement that stated, ”Today we went to meet the Labour Minister essentially to brief him on the reasons for the lockout and the entire background of the wage issue. The Labour Minster gave us a patient hearing and understood all the facts and figures. The Deputy Labour Commissioner has called for a meeting with TKM management and our representatives are planning to meet him tomorrow. The lock out continues as of today and we are hopeful that an early solution can be found.”
