Toyota was also the best-selling carmaker from the year 2008 to 2010, but in 2011 it slipped to the third position. However, the company regained its top position in the next year 2012.

In India, Toyota manufactures its products in collaboration with Kirloskar Motors. In the month of March, the automaker sold a total of 9,160 units compared to 21,143 units in March, 2013. Recently, the company also faced some serious issues like strikes and lock-outs at its production units which also affected its overall production.
