Experiments are being done in every field and to prove that the youngsters are not behind in any way, two groups of engineering students have miraculously developed something extraordinary very recently. Two cars are developed one which is an ambivalent car only possible in imaginations, the other a highly fuel efficient break-through for the generations to remember. The two cars are just short of creating a sensation for the world to know and came into limelight, when the district Collector T. MunuSwamy went to appraise the situation and acknowledged the innovation in the engineering field.

An electric car that can travel like any other car on the road and suddently transforms into a boat to sail on water is only something we get to see in a sci-fi movie or serials from our childhood. But, this did happen in reality this time when a group of students - Rajendra Kumar, Nitesh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Abhishek Raj, Chandrakanth and Sanjay Kumar from the PRIST university in Thanjavur made a ground-breaking invention under the guidance from the researchers Balasundaram, Jayraj and Murali from an engineering firm located in a small town of Tarangambadi near Nagapattinam. The unique car is powered by an electric motor which imbibes the solar power while on the run and co-ordinate together to zoom through the roads at a top speed of 30 kmph and runs like a motor boat delivering a 15 kmph speed on water.

Fuel efficient low-cost cars have never failed to impress the car lovers in any part of the world. With the lowest possible development costs and a lowest capacity engine of 110 cc petrol/LPG engine, the car is a champion in itself delivering an outstanding mileage of 65 kmph with the help of the petrol motor and 110 km/g in the LPG variant, all the while not compromising on the top speed at 50 kmph on road. Creativity and innovation should be in the mind and who better than the present group Alok Kumar, Amit Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Anant Kumar could have proved it better making use of most commonly found materials from the surroundings to make the invention possible with the ultra-light car weighing just 135 kg.

Brilliant engineers from top universities sitting in some hi-tech environment work day in and day out for the top car manufacturers like Volkswagen and BMW and all riding the development costs high which we did see from the Volkswagen XL 1 concept recently at the 2012 Auto Expo in India, but just imagine the high costs while the handful of engineering students have made this possible with mere Rs 35,000 as investment. The high costs of Aluminium, Magnesium and Carbon fibre which usually help in developing a light-weight car have gone for a toss, when the students used the clever blend of the steel alloy and the minimal use of alumnium in the alloy and other cheap materials like plastics from the surroundings to evolve out with a car weighing not more than an obese person at mere 135 kg.
