Volkswagen clocks in 140 percent growth in sales over 2010

Despite the downturn and negative sentiments in the market Volkswagen clocked in 140 percent growth selling a total of 78,408 units for the calendar year 2011 as compared to 32,627 units in the same period last year. The two new carlines – the Passat with BlueMotion Technologies and the Jetta have shown strong growth since its market launch with the Passat selling 1,170 units since its launch in April and the Jetta 1,688 units since its launch in August.

In addition to that the Polo and the Vento which for the first time got one full year of sales after their market introduction along with their action model variants have performed very well selling 74,305 units for the period January –December 2011.
